Domestic Short Hair / Domestic Short Hair (short coat) Cat

Alex the Cat needs a home

Alex was found taking shelter in a recycling bin, flies were all around him, it was cold and pouring rain.  He was  very sick and thin.  We thought he was a kitten he was so small and at the clinic when they weighed him he was only 3 1/2 pounds.  It turns out he was probably about 6 or 7 months old.  He was sick with an upper respiratory infection and we promptly put him on medications.  It took a few months to finally clear it up.  Then he developed a large ulcer on one of his eyes.  He was treated by our regular vet but then taken to a veterinary ophthalmologist.  The vet determined he had an entropic condition and needed eye surgery.  Entropia causes the eyelids on top and bottom to turn inwards.  Alex must have been in terrible pain and discomfort for such a long time!  He was a real trooper though! He was so happy after his surgery when we brought him home - rolling around on the ground and chasing after his toys.  He couldn't really see his toys before, he was squinting so much because of the entropia.

Alex is all healed from his surgery and ready for a permanent home.  He will not be good with other cats - he tends to be very alpha and run after them and cause cat hair to go flying!  He loves people though, loves to be picked up and hugged and scratched!  If you think Alex might be the right one for you, please contact his foster family, Lucia & David at 215-771-7183 and request an application.

Check out his current pictures and the video which shows him with his cone still on a week or so after his operation playing with one of his very favorite cat toys!
